9th meeting of the International Society of Hand and Composite Tissue Transplantation

The 9th Meeting of the International Society of Hand and Composite Tissue Allotransplantation (CTA) will take place in Valencia, Spain on September 11th and 12th 2009. The success of CTAs is now well established, but further development is desirable, by both sharing experiences with other teams and discussing further indications for CTAs. All surgeons who have performed hand transplantation, and those who have been approved or are willing to participate in a hand transplant program and all those surgeons mainly dedicated to hand surgery from both the plastic and orthopedic side are encouraged to attend this meeting. The focus of this symposium will be tolerance induction, secondary surgery to enhance hand allograft function, and further indications for CTAs. The Consensus of the BANFF meeting on histopathology will presented, and the worldwide clinical experience in CTAs will be updated. Other CTAs likeface, larynx and trachea will also be reviewed.
